It rolls up for storage and travel, and it wipes clean in seconds.

Worth knowing: a mat catches mess after it happens. If you'd rather stop it at the source, pair this with a MessMate splash guard, which keeps the food and water inside the bowl in the first place. Most people who own both say the mat catches surprisingly little once the guard is on.

Specifications

Material: food-grade silicone

Size: 55 x 38 cm / 21.7 x 15 inches

Waterproof, non-slip, raised outer lip

Colours: Light Gray, Sky Blue, Ink Green, Cherry Pink

Care: wipe clean, rinse, or dishwasher

Suitable for dogs and cats

Shipping and returns

Ships free from the U.S. in 1–2 business days. 30-day money-back guarantee.

Why this exists

MessMate is named for Spud, the rescue dog we adopted at nine, who ate like a tornado and was worth every mop. A portion of every sale goes to rescue organisations helping dogs who are still waiting.

Care & stability FAQ

How does the non-slip design work?
The underside of the mat is textured silicone, which grips smooth hard floors — tile, hardwood, and laminate — through friction and its own weight. It is not adhesive and does not attach to the floor.

Does floor prep affect how well it stays in place?
Yes. Wipe the floor dry before placing the mat. Even a light film of water or grease under the mat will reduce grip. On freshly waxed or highly polished surfaces, the mat may slide more easily.

My cat pushes the mat around while eating. What helps?
Place the mat against a wall or cabinet so it has a fixed edge to press against. Using a heavier bowl on top also increases the downward pressure that keeps the mat settled during enthusiastic eating.

Can I put this in the dishwasher?
Yes — place it on the top rack only, away from the heating element. Standard dishwasher cycles are fine. Avoid the heated dry setting repeatedly, as prolonged high heat can affect the silicone over time. A rinse or air-dry cycle is gentler for long-term care.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0966/3184/9262/files/ChatGPT_Image_Aug_21_2026_11_01_06_PM.png?v=1787367673
